HISTORY: This neighborhood used to be a conifer forest inhabited by Salish people until a lumber mill was built there in 1891. This change to the region meant they needed a new name... something that screamed "power" and "bounty".... so they named it Columbia after the Columbia River; it later changed to Columbia City, the 3 streets named after explorers remain the same (Magellan, Hudson, and Americus).
FOOD: La Medusa on a Wednesday night can't be beat. The prix fixe menu features items made with ingredients from the previously mentioned farmer's market. So delicious. Don't miss the truffle desserts... yummy
WHAT TO DISCUSS OVER DINNER: If you taught a High School English class, which books would you want to learn as a group?
